FIREFIGHTERS are still at the site of a waste fire in Thirsk, a day after it first broke out.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue had two crews at the site overnight, and relief crews were due to take over by 7am today.
A reassessment of the situation by both crews, as well as an aerial ladder platform and a command officer, will be carried out this morning.
The fire at Todd Waste Management on Thirsk Industrial Estate began just after 5am yesterday.
This morning smoke was still visible from the nearby A168 and A19, prompting fresh calls to the fire brigade by worried motorists.
