INSPIRATIONAL works by art, design and craft students at York College are to be showcased in a new exhibition.

The Creative Show will feature work produced over the past year by students in a range of disciplines, winner Grayson Perry in a Yorkshire Museum Project, our students have won prizes and competitions gaining bursaries from the Merchant Taylors and Cordwainers of the City of York, and as a team of students and staff we embraced the Ofsted Inspection gaining an Outstanding Grade One!”

She said the inspiration for the students’ work came including drawing, painting, print-making, glass, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture and photography.

Helen Ventress, head of division for Art Design and Craft, said the show would reflect the ‘flair and genius’ of the college’s students as they embarked on the next stage in their careers.

“This year we have worked alongside Turner prize from trips, live projects, working with employers and competitions, adding: “The students are the young art - ists and new designers of the future with their finger on the pulse of exciting ideas in the ever-changing world.”

The exhibition preview takes place from 6pm to 8pm next Tuesday, and the show will then continue from June 18 until Tuesday, June 24.
