MUSICIANS put a spring in the step of shoppers by serenading them at Monks Cross.

A number of local stars burst into song for a performance outside the Information Centre on Saturday.

Four hours of entertainment was provided under the banner of York Has Talent.

Katherine Sharp, Monks Cross centre manager, said: “We were so excited to be hosting such an array of local talent. “We all know that Britain’s Got Talent, but what really matters is that York has Talent. “It was great to see the variety of acts all performing on one day in one venue.”

One of the acts, Jay Casey, is also celebrating making it through to the finals of Teen Star, the UK’s largest singing competition specifically for teenagers and pre-teens.

The 12-year-old Millthorpe School pupil will be performing at the NEC in Birmingham on July 19.
