SCOUTS in Easingwold have a newly-refurbished kitchen at their headquarters, thanks to housebuilder Redrow and its sub-contractors.
The company, which is building new homes locally, donated thousands of pounds worth of time and materials to transform the outdated kitchen at Easingwold Scout Hut, on Chase Garth Road.
Redrow enlisted the help of a plumber, decorator, a kitchen supplier, a joiner and an electrician for the job, which took about a fortnight to complete.
Redrow assistant site manager Ben Hebden said: “It’s been a pleasure to play a part in creating a better kitchen for the scouts, cubs and beavers who use the hut, as well as the wider community.
“Without our help, the cost of refitting a new kitchen could have easily reached £6,000, which is money the scout group could ill afford."
1st Easingwold Scout Group's chairman Gerard Tubb said: "Everyone has done an amazing job, it doesn’t look like the same kitchen!"
The group has more than 70 members, including beavers, cubs and scouts.
