YORK Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has been named as being in the top 40 hospitals for the 12th year running.

York is one of the CHKS 40Top Hospitals for 2014. The 40Top award is based on the evaluation of 22 key performance indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

Patrick Crowley, chief executive of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised as a top40 hospital for the 12th year running.

“Over the past 12 months we have seen many improvements to the patient experience and quality of care we provide.

“Of particular note is the continued improvement in our hospital mortality rates across both York and Scarborough Hospitals.

“This accolade, and continued improvement in our performance, is testament to the hard work and commitment of each of our 8,500 staff members who are continuing to deliver excellent healthcare despite working in a challenging environment.”
