PREPARING to put her heart and ‘sole’ in to it, this is the lady who will be taking on more than six miles dressed as a giant shoe.
Dressed as Shoe Barker, as the outfit has become known, Rachel Speight-McGregor local fundraising manager for Cancer Research UK will tackle the BUPA Great Manchester Run 10K this Sunday to raise money for the charity.
She said: "I'm a little bit nervous now but I'm also really excited. I will be running for my friend Nicki because it's ten years since she was told that she had cancer. She has been given the all clear now but I will still be running for her."
Using the 10K as a test drive for the outfit before taking on the BUPA Great North Run in September, Rachel knows how hard it may be.
"Hopefully the weather will be great but I know there's no air con with this outfit. I'm hoping to complete it in about one hour and 15 minutes but mainly I just want to complete it and raise money for Cancer Research UK."
Rachel is hoping to double her original fundraising target of £400. To donate visit www.justgiving.com/BupaTeamRaw.
