A DOCTOR left a motorist with “life-changing injuries” after he smashed head-on into her car while too tired to drive following a night shift at York Hospital, a hearing was told.
Dr Rajasekar Ramachandran admitted to one count of dangerous driving when he appeared at Hull Crown Court last summer. He is now facing a fitness to practise hearing in Manchester where he could face restrictions on his registration. The General Medical Council alleges his fitness to practise is impaired by his conviction.
Elizabeth Dudley-Jones, for the GMC, said that when he was quizzed by police over the crash, the doctor initially claimed the other car was at fault but later, in court, he accepted he was at fault and had been too tired to drive.
The hearing continues.
