A YORK woman has admitted drink-driving twice in the city in less than five months.

Charlotte Parry, 21, of Rose Tree Grove in New Earswick, appeared in York Magistrates Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to offences on December 20 and August 3. She will appear before court again on January 10. She has also been arrested on suspicion of a third offence of drink-driving.

In a separate case, a 24-year-old man from York is due in court after allegedly being caught driving while almost four times the legal limit.

He was arrested in Gale Lane in Acomb at about 7.35pm on Saturday (DEC 21). Police say a breath test showed 130 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (the legal limit is 35).

He was also charged with driving without a licence and without insurance and will appear before York Magistrates’ Court on January 10.

Officers have now arrested 86 people on suspicion of drink or drug driving since North Yorkshire Police Christmas Safety Campaign began at the end of November.

Traffic Sergeant Andy Morton, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “We want everybody to enjoy Christmas and have a great time catching up with family and friends but if you are planning on having a drink make sure you aren’t driving home.

“Our job is to keep you safe and if you are putting your own or other peoples’ lives at risk by getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drink or drugs, you will be arrested and banned from the roads.”
