FLOOD warnings have been issued for York and the Ouse has burst its bank flooding King's Staith and Queen's Staith in the city centre.

The Environment Agency put out a flood warning for the Ouse at Naburn Locks yesterday evening.

The latest information says river levels are expected to remain high because of heavy rain on the Pennines over the last few days.

No significant rainfall is forecast for today but unsettled weather could come on Monday and keep river levels high.

And rail company East Coast is warning that bad weather forecast for tomorrow afternoon could cause problems on their lines.

It is warning of delays and cancellations and are urging people to travel earlier than planned today or tomorrow or later on Tuesday.

The company will be lifting some ticket restrictions and plans to run the published timetable until 4pm on Monday, when the service to and from London King’s Cross will be reduced to four trains per hour.

Up to date flood information is available on the Environment Agency website at www.environment-agency.gov.uk and rail information is online at www.eastcoast.co.uk or National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7 48 49 50.
