THE shortlist is being drawn up for artistic projects set to feature as part of the 100-day culture festival to accompany the Tour de France’s Yorkshire Grand Depart.
Festival director Maria Bota told delegates at the Visit York annual conference yesterday that they have received “an extraordinary amount” of ideas for the festival, and that the winning designs will be announced in December, with the festival programme revealed in January.
She said: “This is the first- time a cultural festival has been organised in the run up to and in support of the race. We are basing the programme for the festival on three key ideas – True Grit, Yorkshire en Fete and World Class Yorkshire.
“It is extraordinary the amount of ideas that have been coming forward.”
Music is also been sought to create a soundtrack for the festival, which is yet to be officially named, and will begin on March 27.
