Dr Who fireworks at Kaboom event to be ‘out of this world’
8:18am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
ORGANISERS of a big firework party in York say they will provide an “out of this world” experience this year, inspired by the 50th anniversary of Dr Who.
Visitors to Kaboom, which will be held at Rawcliffe Country Park on November 3, will be given 3D glasses to watch the show.
Organisers say the display of fireworks, lasers and lighting will be synchronised to a specially commissioned music track, and the 3D glasses will create “a unique kaleidoscope effect”.
As well as the fireworks and lights, there will be a funfair, a sparkler park, a junior firework display for young children, live entertainment including the Minster FM roadshow, fire jugglers and carnival performers, and the chance to tuck in to traditional bonfire night goodies.
Mark Brayshaw, managing director of York-based Rockin’ Horse Promotions, which is organising the event, said: “The 3D glasses for viewing fireworks is a relatively new concept to the UK. It’s definitely a first for our region if not a first outside of London. Our science fiction theme, and the introduction of lasers and 3D special effects, will truly add a new dimension to the event: it will be out of this world.
“We will light up the skies of this historic city with some of the most advanced special effects in pyrotechnics to mark its connections with the famous conspirator.”
Kaboom tickets start at £12.50 for adults and £9.50 for children with discounts available for early purchase. Tickets must be purchased in advance on kaboomyork.com or at the Visit York information centre in Museum Street.
