Work expected soon at former Terry's factory
DEVELOPERS have confirmed they will soon start work on building new homes at York’s former Terry’s chocolate factory after applying for permission to advertise the scheme near the site.
Henry Boot Developments Ltd and York-based David Wilson Homes, part of Barratts, jointly bought the 27-acre site from GHT Developments Ltd earlier this year, as plans were unveiled to build 270 houses at the South Bank end of the site.
In documents sent to City of York Council asking for approval to put up advertising boards at the west, north and east boundaries of the Bishopthorpe Road site, Keogh Planning, the agents for the development, said: “David Wilson Homes has acquired the northern part of the former factory and will shortly commence construction work.”
Eight signs are planned, with one being mainly intended to advertise the scheme to racegoers at neighbouring York Racecourse. Keogh Planning is seeking permission for the signs to be displayed for two years.
