York court and crime round-up
You may have heard that a defendant called Trump, D J, has been found guilty of 34 offences. Among the tornado of reaction filling the airwaves and the media have been a couple of comments along the lines of "no-one is above the law".
One North Yorkshire traffic police officer would have done well to remember that when he decided that it would be all right for him to charge along the A1(M) at 154 mph. No it wasn't.
In his case it wasn't just the courts that got involved. The Chief Constable of North Yorkshire also had a lot to say on the matter as you can imagine.
President, police officer or member of the public, the law applies to all.

Shotgun theft sparks large-scale police operation in North Yorkshire town
A large-scale police operation was carried out in Norton last night (Thursday) after a shotgun was stolen from a vehicle. Specialist resources were scrambled to the scene to aid the search, including a police helicopter, after a suspected opportunistic thief took the unloaded licensed shotgun from a 4x4 vehicle parked outside a takeaway food outlet on Commercial Street in Norton at around 11.13pm.
